Mastering Classroom Excellence
Pathway: Education
Focused Course Framework Module Focus Learning Objectives 1. Foundations of Integrated Practice • Theories & Principles • Historical Evolution - Recall key theorists and core principles of management, behavior and differentiation. - Articulate how these domains intersect to support effective teaching. 2. Proactive Classroom Management • Routines & Procedures • Physical & Relational Environment - Design classroom layouts and routines that minimize disruption. - Implement strategies to foster a positive, consistent learning climate. 3. Disruptive Behavior Analysis & Intervention • Root-Cause Analysis • De-escalation & Intervention Plans - Identify triggers and patterns of disruptive behavior. - Apply both proactive and reactive techniques to manage incidents. 4. Differentiated Instruction Techniques • Strategy Selection • Technology-Enhanced Supports - Demonstrate at least five differentiation strategies matched to learner needs. - Integrate ed-tech tools to personalize instruction. 5. Integrated Assessment & Teacher Ranking • Rubric Development • Multi-Source Feedback - Co-construct a 3-domain evaluation rubric (Management, Behavior, Differentiation). - Apply observational data, self-assessment, and student feedback to rank performance. Learning Objectives By the end of this course, teachers will be able to: 1. Analyse the theoretical foundations and intersections of classroom management, disruptive-behavior intervention, and differentiated instruction. 2. Design and implement proactive classroom-management systems that foster a positive and structured learning environment. 3. Diagnose root causes of disruptive behaviours and apply both proactive and reactive intervention strategies effectively. 4. Develop and execute differentiated lessons and supports tailored to diverse learner profiles, including technology-enhanced adaptations. 5. Construct an integrated, rubric-based evaluation framework combining observational data, self-assessment, and student feedback to rank teaching performance. 6. Reflect critically on their own practice, identify professional growth areas, and formulate a targeted development plan. ________________________________________ Learning Targets Objective Learning Targets 1. Analyse Theory - Define and compare at least three key theories in classroom management, behaviour intervention, and differentiation. - Map how theorists’ principles intersect in case-study scenarios. - Explain, in writing, the evolution and rationale behind an integrated approach. 2. Design Proactive Management - Create a daily routines chart and transition procedures that reduce downtime to under 2 minutes. - Draft a classroom-layout plan optimizing student visibility and movement. - Implement a reinforcement system (e.g., token economy) and collect usage data over one week. 3. Diagnose & Intervene - Use a behaviour-tracking template to record and categorize three real or simulated incidents. - Conduct a root-cause analysis for each incident, identifying at least two triggers. - Role-play and demonstrate three de-escalation techniques with peer feedback. 4. Develop Differentiation - Select and apply five differentiation strategies (content, process, product, environment, technology) in a 30-minute mini-lesson. - Adapt an existing lesson plan to include Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports for two distinct learner profiles. - Integrate an ed-tech tool (e.g., breakout rooms, adaptive quiz) and report on student engagement data. 5. Construct Evaluation Framework - Co-create a three-domain rubric (Management, Behaviour, Differentiation) with performance descriptors at levels 1–5. - Apply the rubric to evaluate two recorded teaching sessions and justify each score in a 200-word rationale. - Synthesize observational scores, self-assessment reflections, and anonymous student feedback into a final performance ranking. 6. Reflect & Grow - Complete six reflective-journal entries (one per module), each identifying two strengths and one growth target. - Draft a SMART professional-growth plan with at least three measurable goals and timelines. - Participate in two peer-feedback cycles and revise a lesson plan incorporating received suggestions.
