Character building course for KG2 students in an American STEM school that focuses on: Cooperation collaboration for KG students, Taking care of my friends for KG students, active listening and compassion for KG students, honesty and integrity for KG students, my studying responsibilities for KG students, speaking respectfully with all people for KG kids, leadership skills for KG kids, expressing ideas and emotions in an assertive and positive way for KG students, good communication for KG students, presentation skills for KG students. I need at least 12 learning targets each with at least 5 performance criteria on the application, analysis, evaluation and creation.

1. Apply Whole-Body Listening and the Think-Pair-Share routine to show attention and care during peer and teacher interactions.

2. Paraphrase one idea a partner said in one short sentence.

4. Take turns speaking using the Think-Pair-Share routine without interrupting.
5. Signal understanding with a nonverbal cue (e.g., thumbs up) and wait to be called before speaking.

1. Demonstrate Whole-Body Listening (eyes, ears, still body, quiet mouth, thinking brain) for 30 seconds during a short story.
2. Maintain body facing the speaker and keep hands still until a timer or chime ends.
3. Signal readiness to listen by giving a silent thumbs-up before the speaker begins.
4. Apply a quiet mouth and wait to be called on before speaking during circle time.
5. Track the speaker with eyes and nod to show attention during a partner share.
6. Evaluate personal listening posture with a picture rubric and adjust one element (e.g., hands, eyes) on the next turn.
1. 2. Paraphrasing and Clarifying Questions

1. Listen to a partner’s idea and paraphrase it in one short sentence using “You said…”.
2. Identify one key word from the partner’s message and include it in the paraphrase.
3. Ask one clarifying question using a sentence starter such as “Can you tell me more about…?”
4. Differentiate between a new idea and a paraphrase by sorting two example sentences.
5. Practice wait time by counting to three silently before responding to a partner’s idea.
6. Evaluate the clarity of a paraphrase with a smiley scale and revise one word if needed.
